I am FINALLY starting my third year in creative writing and English. I've finished off all my extra courses, so now I'm concentrating everything on English and Creative Writing. By the end of this year, I hope to be done with English too.
I'm only taking three classes this semester, though I wanted to take four. The fourth one I couldn't get into, because the deadline to pay for classes was before our grades were in front the fall semester. Unfortunately, one of the classes I needed as a pre-req was in the fall, and it had not been counted as completed by the deadline. So... I guess I'm taking the next class in the summer or fall.
What I am taking is Advanced Poetry Forms, Romantic Poetry, and Business of Writing. All the classes have amazing professors, and I think I'm really going to enjoy them.
The one problem is that the Business of Writing class is going to take up a lot of my time outside of school. I already told my manager that I'm going to need weekends off, but of course, I've been scheduled for every single Saturday for the next three weeks. The catch? She rarely ever works a Saturday or Sunday. She only ever works them when there's inventory or a promotion set up. And she's normally off doing something else for most of the day, so she's really not working in the kiosk... I guess I have to remind her. She also scheduled me for a Thursday shift in a few weeks, which I definitely need off, because of school.
On a happier note, I'm looking for a new job! Anyone hiring?

Delve Into the Mind
It's quarter past eleven here, and I've had too much sugar today. I have a stomach ache and I'm probably dehydrated, but I'm in the mood to ramble. So I introduce a few things that goes on in my mind.
The thoughts that pop up the most often are about the future and my choices for it. Although I say my biggest fear is deep water (you never know what's down there...) it's actually about my career choice. I think most people have these thoughts, whether they're heading for something as unstable as a writer or musician, or as solid as, well, pretty much anything other career. And I know I haven't gotten very far in the eight or so years since making this choice. By the winter, I will have two short stories published in my college's anthology, but that gets me bragging rights only, and it's money that'll keep me alive. Of course, you read any blog or comment by a published writer, and they'll tell you that the worrying and second guessing is as much a part of the job as math is to an accountant. I guess it keeps us on our toes. The moment you slack off and stop worrying is the moment that you have something to worry about. Sounds like a great life, right?
Well, at least I've had training as a barista, so if all else fails, I'll open up a coffee shop combined with a book store.
But apart from the constant worrying and self loathing for my procrastination, I'm honestly a happy person. That is if you love making your characters suffer by ripping our their heart. No matter how terrible that sounds, every book worm loves it. What is a book without drama, and what is a writer who cannot create this drama? Now I'm far from the person to create this drama in real life. Oh no, I hate teen fiction novels for this very reason. If I ever wanted to live the drama of a book or character, I would pick something far more exciting. Then again, pretty much anything would be more exciting than my current average life. I'm still amazed I did so well in my Personal Narrative class when half my stories featured other people.
Which brings up my thoughts on my current life. Of course I wish it was more exciting, and I'm constantly coming up with situations in which something could make it more exciting. I might see some guy, envision him asking me out. But I would have no idea what to do or say, so would probably end up blabbering some excuse for why I can't go out, then look down, wishing that my hair was long enough to cover my increasingly reddening face. It's rather pathetic when my imaginary self cannot even handle a situation like that. I think it's best if just remain on the computer the rest of my life.
I guess I did pick a fitting job after all.

I'mma Just Going to... Sleep...
As the title suggests, I am very tired. And as you might have noticed, it is very late on a Saturday night, which means that I missed my Friday update, and I apologize to anyone who freaked out (kidding). My excuse is work, since I worked every day from Saturday to Thursday, whether at Starbucks or the Museum. Then I had another Zelda party on Friday, and more work today.
I believe I mentioned in my last post that I got a job at Starbucks. Since it was my reading week, I was able to stuff all my training into one week. This also meant that I had at least 24 hours or trained work, then I also had another two days as a full worker. I think by the end of today, I've worked a total of about 42 hours... And yes, I did just add that all up on a calculator, because I am too tired to do simple math. Now I'm not complaining, far from it. I'm overjoyed that I have a job now, and it's a lot less stressful than I originally thought it would be. I have a pretty bad memory, so I was scared about learning all the drinks. Ends up a lot of them are very similar. I'm still not very good with iced or blended drinks, but I figure as soon as it gets warmer out, I'll get a lot more practice.
Anyway, on Thursday, which was Valentines Day, instead of going on a date or anything, I worked from 9:30 in the morning to 6:00, at which point my parents picked me up to drive me to a book signing done by Brandon Sanderson. I got in line around 6:30, and left around 9:30, so three hours in line. About an hour of that wait was either spent waiting for Sanderson to actually come out (it started at 7), then there was a Q&A and a very brief reading from the book (the famous first paragraph from the first chapter of each Wheel of Time book). The last time I went to his signing (a couple years ago), I was in line for about three to four hours. I had gotten there an hour late, so the line was huge. This time I arrived half an hour early, so that probably cut the wait down for about an hour. All in all, from waking up around 7:30 and getting home around 10:00, I had been sitting for a total of two and a half hours. Needless to say, I wasn't able to feel my feet for the rest of the night. Then to next day my right calf hurt... Just my right one.
Which brings me to my Zelda Party! (A lot happened this week, I'm sorry) Kyra dressed up at Tingle, so I dressed up at Link. Then we (Shaina, Brandi, Kyra, my mom and myself) went to Walmart... We didn't get as many stares as I thought, but if we don't end up on the People of Walmart, I will be very disappointed. Actually, I seriously think I will submit a photo myself. Although I just checked it out, and you apparently have to live in the states to submit a photo to that website. Dang... Anyway, we bought some post-Valentines Day chocolates and ingredients for home mad mac 'n cheese, then we lost my mom and had to wait outside for almost half an hour. One of the employees gave us a funny looks, then smiled, and another customer asked Kyra is she was an elf. I'll post pictures at the end of the post.
When we got home we played some Skyward Sword, then took some pictures, then played more Skyward Sword. In total, we played about ten hours, though about an hour of it was just when the game was on and we were out doing something else. Still... We started at the boss fight in the first temple, and now we're just starting the Ancient Cistern temple, so that's about two whole temples done, along with a bunch of other side stuff and preparation to get to the water temple, including the damned Silent Realm.
Okay, so the party was great. Only Vanessa slept over, but that was okay. We played a bit more in the morning, then she went home and I continued to just kind of wander around Skyloft... Then I had to start work at 5:15 and was supposed to end at 9:15, but I was closing by myself, and I ended up getting out of there at around 9:35... I'm hoping it will be a lot sooner on Tuesday when I have to close again. I was just paranoid that a customer will come and want a food item that I had just thrown out (because it's no longer fresh after a certain amount of days). So I waited a little too long and then had trouble wrapping all the food up, because I am terrible with Saran wrap. But still, it was only a little over fifteen minutes late, which is still almost half an hour sooner than I expected... And I know I will improve. I don't think they expected me to do an absolutely perfect job, as long as I did the import things.
And now I need some sleep. I have tomorrow off, which I will be spending reading my book for class. It's 150 pages long, which is funny because there's a chapter in A Memory of Light that is 195 pages long. I've been on that same chapter for days now (I had to take a break to start reading my school book, I'm honestly not that slow of a reader.) But it really messes with me, because when I read in bed, before going to sleep, I like to get to the end of the chapter. I still have, like, thirty pages to go until the end.
Anyway, here are some of the best pictures!

This is us at Walmart, Shaina was taking the photo.
This is the most bad-ass I have ever looks. And yes, that is a sock sewn to my back. I use it as a sheathe for my sword.
I was trying to imitate how Link runs in Skyward Sword when you don't put his sword away and you hold the wii remote upwards. Then Tingle started to either imitate me, or wanted to hit me...
Tingle trying to be as Awesome as Link
The Tingle smolder
The Lazy Tingle. It was a little too late, but we should have brought a bottle of beer for her to hold.
And then just a quick photo of me at the book signing
I know there are more photos, but I can't seem to find them while stalking people's pictures on Facebook. I don't own a camera, so I only have one photo on my phone, which I'm too lazy to get off of it.

Respect
I've been meaning to make a post about this for a while, so here it is: A list of all the people I respect for what they do are who they are.
1) Drivers.
Simply those that drive as a career, whether they're bus drivers, taxi drivers or even parents. I recently started learning how to drive, and I hate it. I find it difficult to get into first gear and I'm constantly stalling or burning out. I also find it very stressful and after only half an house I get out of the car and I'm shaking. So anyone who is able to do that every day for several hours, in good or bad conditions and often with rude people, has earned my respect.
2) Cashiers
This means any cashiers, whether it's for retail, food industry or any other job. When I work, I'm most often on cash register, and I'm lucky that it's not too busy and our customers are almost always easy to serve and very polite. I cannot image working somewhere like McDonalds, where it's always busy and many rude and unbearable customers visit every day. So good job for all those people who can handle stressful jobs like that on a regular basis.
3) Teachers
I know a lot of people think that being a teacher would be easy, and that they are all overpaid, and perhaps for some people that' true. If you find teaching to be easy, then maybe you won't have the same view as I do. However, I am terrible at explaining anything, so the thought of teaching anyone, especially little kids who have to be taught the very basics, is a rather daunting task for me.
4) Writers
You knew this would have to show up eventually, right? Well of course I respect writers. They appear to live a very care-free easy life, no offices to go to every day, no early mornings, getting to make their own work schedule. Of course they have deadlines to meet though, and even more important, thousands of fans to please. Then there are the tours and book signings, which they have to be friendly and cheerful for. Honestly, I think I would snap after even two hours of signing... Not to mention my signature is terrible...
5) Stay at home mom's/dad's
I'm not a big fan of kids, so it's natural that I would respect anyone who stays home all day, or even tries to run errands, with a kid. Now I know kids can be a lot of fun and adorable at times, but they can also be horrible, screaming crying spawns of the devil, especially when they're young.

Not Good Enough
Not too long ago, I briefly mentioned that the short story I had previously believed was going to be published, with only up for consideration. This morning I received word that it wasn't picked for the final publication. What makes it worse is that the grandma I wrote it about isn't doing so well, and it looks like she won't last much longer. Not to mention without that publication, I find it hard to believe that I will get into the program at the university I want, or even into the university in general.
I think I knew that something like this would happen. When I got the e-mail earlier this year, I was overjoyed, and terrified that something would go wrong. It has always been my luck that as soon as something as good as this happens, something comes along to ruin it. Now I'm just thinking that if I cannot get published in the anthology of a common college, how the hell will I get anything published in the real world?
I wish people would tell me the truth. I know my friends and family will never tell me their true opinion on my writing, and that is as hurtful as being told by a stranger that I suck. Ever since grade six, I have wanted to become a writing. I've worked towards it, never looking elsewhere for a different career or something that may suit me better. I've always known that I would need a second job to support myself, of course. Very few new writers can come up with something brilliant enough to support themselves without a separate source of income.
I don't know what to say. I've lost all words, and I just want to give up. I was stupid to think that my passion could be my job.

A Stranger Wants to Hire Me
Ah jeeze guys, you need to give me a kick to remind me it's time to do my blog.
So on Friday, after my parents got home, I found out that someone had called while I was at school concerning my resume on Monster. Since I recently applied to Chapters, we all assumed it was from them. Unfortunately, I was unable to call them back, as it was after five, and the times to call were between nine and five. Even worse, since it was Friday, I had to wait until Monday to call back.
I waited out the weekend, which went by far to quickly. (Quick note: I had a board game day on Sunday. It was a lot of fun, but it ended too quickly) Today finally came, and this morning I called back. It went to voicemail. I waited half an hour and called back again, just to get sent to voicemail again. The second time I left a message to let the person know that I had gotten their message, and all that stuff.
Around noon the phone rang and I jumped to answer it. Ends up it wasn't from Chapters. The call was from someone looking around on Monster and saw my resume (which I have not updated in a while...). They called to see if I wanted a job in communications. And we all know that means calling people up asking if they want to do a survey, or something like that. I'm still a little hesitant, but they want me to come in on Saturday for an interview (I think, the reception wasn't great and they were driving, so it was very hard to hear. All I know is that I have to go in on Saturday for some reason...) Luckily, the place is in Coquitlam, and will be a quick bus ride and walk from my house.
To be honest, it's not my dream job. It's far from it... Probably close to the very opposite. However, it could be a great opportunity to get experience, not to mention I will be earning money through the winter, and if the job is good, I might need only it, no other job.
However, that also means tying myself down to one job, without much of an opportunity to trying something that I would enjoy more. For example, I would love to work in the mall; preferably in a food place, but a clothing or accessory store would be fun too. I know for the winter season a lot of places will be hiring, but I will be too busy with this new job if I get it. not to mention Chapters. it is my ideal job (at the moment). By now it looks like I will not be offered the 5am shift (I know, I should have called them, but I just kept forgetting), but like I said, the winter season will be starting soon, and I bet they will be hiring more people for then.
There's so many choices and things to consider. I think right now I am leaning more toward taking the job, since it's there, and Chapters or any other place is just a hopeful thought.
