Today I only worked a four hour shift, so I actually had time to go out and do things. And by that, I mean I went out with my parents, because my social life has been reduced to that...
On Monday my new pair of glasses arrived in the mail though. I ordered them through Clearly Contacts, so I was never able to try them on. They're a little bigger than had originally thought, but I still like them. I look like a true nerd now. And I can see better, so that's always a plus. I guess the real test will be in class on Monday.
And something must be different, because I had two guys talking to me today... which really says something about my social skills if I get excited over that... Heck, I get excited when anyone strikes up a conversation with me... Unless it's some old man at a bus stop, which sadly is what happens more often than not.
Anyway, apparently this first guy is also a creative writing major at my school, but we have never had a single class together. I didn't even know my school, or even my major, was that large. He also works at Chapters, so I'm jealous. I've wanted a job there for ages.
Oh my, I sound like a stalker...
The second guy was probably trying to up-sell a game at EB Games, but hey! Social interaction! You guys should be proud of me. I think a round of applause is in order.
Oh, and completely off topic, but possibly a note of interesting, I'm going to be going back and adding pictures to all of my reviews. I kept meaning to add them when I wrote them, but I always forgot. Since I know some people still judge books by their covers (I do too, I admit...) then seeing the covers may interest people.

Money Money Money
I have something to confess. Last night, after seeing the Wii U Legend of Zelda Deluxe Bundle, I couldn't help but spend $300 on it. It looks amazing, and there are so many more games I can play on the Wii U that I can't play on my Wii Mini. But I can play all old Wii games on the Wii U, making the Wii Mini kind of redundant. I'm not sure if I want to sell it or not. I bought it for about $150 (If I remember correctly), so I could probably sell it for about $75, if not more.
In addition, I bought myself a new pair of glasses. They came to about $130, so about half the price that I would normally pay. They're from Clearly Contacts, so I used the First Pair Free coupon, and got a pair of $70 frames for free. They're similar to my current ones, but a little bigger, and of course the prescription will be newer.
All in all, I set my school fund back about $430. At least the shipping was free for both my purchases! I'm also waiting for something I bought in Disneyland, but I'm going to keep that as a surprise. I expect it to arrive in a week or two, so I'll post a picture of it when it arrives.

Distractions
Dang it, I got distracted by Youtube videos and forgot it was Wednesday. Today it was a ton of Lord of the Rings out takes and bloopers. Very entertaining. However, I also worked the opening shift at work, and later went to the eye doctor. So guess what! Time for a rant!
I've been really excited to go to the eye doctor lately, because my eye sight gets continually worse every year. I thought I was at -7 already, but it ends up I'm only at -6.25. That's still pretty bad though! Now I've been meaning to get a pair of prescription sunglasses for a long time, but I've never had the money or time... or effort. Today, right after getting home, I went straight to Clearly Contacts to look for sunglasses. I found some nice pairs for a good price, but for some reason it wouldn't let me get them at sunglasses. So my mom and I called them to see what was up. Ends up I am too blind for sunglasses. That's right. My eyesight is so bad, they will not make lenses strong enough for sunglasses. I can get regular glasses, but there is something with sunglasses. The sad part is, I'm sure that part of the reason why I'm so blind is because I have not worn sunglasses for years. Probably for at least six years, maybe more.
So I'll head over to Costco when I have time and see if they have anything inexpensive there. I'll probably end up spending about $200 on a pair of sunglasses though, since I need them prescription.
And now the second part! I may have mentioned this before in another rant, but I really hate how people with glasses are portrayed in movies and TV shows. If we lose our glasses, we do not walk around like zombies, with our hands out in front of us to make sure we don't run into anything. We can still see blurs, and a blur will generally mean there is something in front of us. We may say we're blind, but we can still see well enough to know the difference between a hallway and a damned wall. Now on the other hand, if we drop our glasses in something with a lot of texture, such as dirt, then yes, we probably will have to grope around to find them. (depending on how bad our eye sight is, and how well our glasses blend in with the ground) Normally we would be smart enough to know the general area where they dropped though, and will not stand up to look for them, therefore stepping on them. It's like people with glasses are portrayed as the smart ones, and the second the glasses fall off, they lose all common sense.
And now, I need sleep. I've had way too much sugar and not enough sleep...

The Life of a Nearly-Blind
As many of you know, I'm nearly legally blind. My current prescription is around -7, and -8 means you're legally blind, or so I've been told. So here is a quick and fun list of the woes of a nearly-blind person.
1) (For girls) It's almost impossible to shave your legs in the shower. I don't wear my glasses in the shower, as they would just fog up and be useless anyway. So I'm pretty much shaving blind... It's not so bad for my legs, as I can feel if I missed a spot, but my knees are harder, I don't know why. I have to lean in very close, and I still will almost always miss a spot. Oddly enough, I very rarely actually knick myself. I'm just very skilled.
2) While on an upside down ride at an amusement park, the only thing that scares me is having my glasses fall off. I have no fear that I will fall, just my glasses. Therefore, I have to either hold onto them, or put them in my purse.
3) Playing sports suddenly becomes much more dangerous. Maybe not for myself, but for my glasses. I've been hit in the face several times by a soccer ball, and so far I have not broken my glasses, so I was lucky. I've been hit by dodge balls and volley balls, and so far no breakage. When I did fencing I had to switch to smaller glasses to actually fit under the mask, but it still hurt when it dug into my face...
4) On sunny days, the nose part on my glasses gets very hot and sweaty. It's gross. It might just be the type of glasses I wear. They're plastic with the nose piece resting directly on the nose, rather than the type with the little rubber feet.
5) I don't worry too much about this, but a lot of other people do. If you lose your glasses, you're pretty much screwed. I always carry around a spare pair, but they have an old prescription, so they won't work too well. But I never take my glasses off unless I'm taking a shower or going to bed.
Of course, I could get around all this by wearing contacts or getting laser eye surgery, but I hate contacts; they give me headaches and I'm more likely to damage my eye with my nails... And laser eye surgery is very expensive. Maybe when I'm older, but for now I'm happy enough with glasses. In fact, I look strange without them.

You Know You've Been Wearing Glasses Too Long When...
So, I'm super busy with school, so it looks like I'll be posting another quick list.
1) Even in your dreams you're wearing glasses
Or you vision is fuzzy. This happens more often than you would think. From the dreams I can remember, recent ones at least, most of the time my vision is fuzzy, and once in a while I'll be aware that I'm wearing glasses.
2) You don't even notice when your glasses need cleaning
Now, I only really clean my glasses once a week, sometimes only once every two weeks. So when I take them off, it's surprising how dirty they are. In fact, I seem to have permanent little dots on them. They look like water marks, but they don't come off easily, although they seem to be fading now.
3) When you automatically think that someone has to take their glasses off to rub their eyes in a book
I was reading Harry Potter several months ago, and when I got to the part that Hagrid was wiping tears from his eyes, I automatically thought of him taking his glasses off first. No matter what, I could not get that image out of my head.
4) You've actually written a poem (or story, blog, status, ect.) about what things look like without glasses
As I mentioned in my previous post, I've written a poem about what the moon and my room look like without my glasses.
5) You always carry around a spare pair of glasses, in case something happens to your regular pair
This is actually a very reasonable fear, especially if your eyes are as bad as mine. People are always asking me why I have glasses in my glasses case though... Sounds like a pretty stupid question, right?
