Navi Dress

So I think I should just change my post days to Wednesday and Friday. It seems like the only days that I actually remember...

Anyway, a dress I bought online came in the mail today! Well, it came a few days ago, but no one was home to sign for it, so I just picked it up from the post office today. It's all the way from Latvia! And it actually took less time to get here than the shirt I ordered a few weeks ago. I tried it on as soon as I got home, and it fits perfectly! I still wear a belt around my stomach because it's rather plain, but it also reminds me of a pixie, or Navi. So I figure now I have another Zelda cosplay outfit! I just need to buy some white wings and maybe get some temporary blue hair spray, or a wig. I figure none of this will happen until Halloween, when I can get them all for cheap. But still, it's awesome. And it's still normal enough that I can wear it in public on an average day. However, it is a halter dress and therefore has no sleeves. I'll probably have to wait another month or so until it's warm enough to wear outside. As it is, I'm wearing it inside and I'm barely able to refrain from putting on another layer.

Ah, it's good to have new clothes. I went through a long dry spell when I didn't spend any money on clothes, or at least very few clothes. I did splurge around early winter to buy some work clothes...

Happy Halloween (a day late)

Okay, okay, I know it's not Halloween anymore. If anything, it's barely a memory now that the next big day (for corporations) is Christmas. But I had to wake up at 5:15 to get to work by 6:30, and as soon as I got home around 3:30 my dad and I were doing last minute decorating. You see? I wasn't on the Sims all day...

Anyway, it was a fairy uneventful Halloween. I was planning on standing outside to scare little kids, but it was cold and my costume wasn't really all that scary... Besides, I would rather leave it to inanimate objects to scare people. So I sat inside and either played the sims or played on my ipad. I did dress up though! No one recognized who I was, and at one point a little girl asked is I was a pirate... I have no idea why, I thought an elf would be closer. But then as the girl was walking away I heard her say to her friend "it smells gross in there", probably in response to the fact that we were burning pumpkin seeds (quick an impressive feat, I might add, considering how long they take to cook).

So that was my Halloween! I wish I had a picture of my pumpkin too, but I got lazy, and I'm still lazy, so I'll describe it rather than getting up to take a picture. It's a kind of light blue colour, but washed out to look kind of grey. We didn't think it would have any seeds inside, or at least not many (it's more like a squash or a gourd that a traditional pumpkin), so we didn't bother carving it. Not to mention I've been working or going to school nearly every day, so I haven't had time to help. A few hours before kids started to arrive, I just went into my dad's work shop, grabbed a hammer and some nails, and pounded them into the pumpkin. I must say, it looked pretty cool. I'm sad to say it was probably the scariest thing about our house. I mean, we have a blow up ghost in out front yard...

I'mma Just Going to... Sleep...

As the title suggests, I am very tired. And as you might have noticed, it is very late on a Saturday night, which means that I missed my Friday update, and I apologize to anyone who freaked out (kidding). My excuse is work, since I worked every day from Saturday to Thursday, whether at Starbucks or the Museum. Then I had another Zelda party on Friday, and more work today.

I believe I mentioned in my last post that I got a job at Starbucks. Since it was my reading week, I was able to stuff all my training into one week. This also meant that I had at least 24 hours or trained work, then I also had another two days as a full worker. I think by the end of today, I've worked a total of about 42 hours... And yes, I did just add that all up on a calculator, because I am too tired to do simple math. Now I'm not complaining, far from it. I'm overjoyed that I have a job now, and it's a lot less stressful than I originally thought it would be. I have a pretty bad memory, so I was scared about learning all the drinks. Ends up a lot of them are very similar. I'm still not very good with iced or blended drinks, but I figure as soon as it gets warmer out, I'll get a lot more practice.

Anyway, on Thursday, which was Valentines Day, instead of going on a date or anything, I worked from 9:30 in the morning to 6:00, at which point my parents picked me up to drive me to a book signing done by Brandon Sanderson. I got in line around 6:30, and left around 9:30, so three hours in line. About an hour of that wait was either spent waiting for Sanderson to actually come out (it started at 7), then there was a Q&A and a very brief reading from the book (the famous first paragraph from the first chapter of each Wheel of Time book). The last time I went to his signing (a couple years ago), I was in line for about three to four hours. I had gotten there an hour late, so the line was huge. This time I arrived half an hour early, so that probably cut the wait down for about an hour. All in all, from waking up around 7:30 and getting home around 10:00, I had been sitting for a total of two and a half hours. Needless to say, I wasn't able to feel my feet for the rest of the night. Then to next day my right calf hurt... Just my right one.

Which brings me to my Zelda Party! (A lot happened this week, I'm sorry) Kyra dressed up at Tingle, so I dressed up at Link. Then we (Shaina, Brandi, Kyra, my mom and myself) went to Walmart... We didn't get as many stares as I thought, but if we don't end up on the People of Walmart, I will be very disappointed. Actually, I seriously think I will submit a photo myself. Although I just checked it out, and you apparently have to live in the states to submit a photo to that website. Dang... Anyway, we bought some post-Valentines Day chocolates and ingredients for home mad mac 'n cheese, then we lost my mom and had to wait outside for almost half an hour. One of the employees gave us a funny looks, then smiled, and another customer asked Kyra is she was an elf. I'll post pictures at the end of the post.
When we got home we played some Skyward Sword, then took some pictures, then played more Skyward Sword. In total, we played about ten hours, though about an hour of it was just when the game was on and we were out doing something else. Still... We started at the boss fight in the first temple, and now we're just starting the Ancient Cistern temple, so that's about two whole temples done, along with a bunch of other side stuff and preparation to get to the water temple, including the damned Silent Realm.

Okay, so the party was great. Only Vanessa slept over, but that was okay. We played a bit more in the morning, then she went home and I continued to just kind of wander around Skyloft... Then I had to start work at 5:15 and was supposed to end at 9:15, but I was closing by myself, and I ended up getting out of there at around 9:35... I'm hoping it will be a lot sooner on Tuesday when I have to close again. I was just paranoid that a customer will come and want a food item that I had just thrown out (because it's no longer fresh after a certain amount of days). So I waited a little too long and then had trouble wrapping all the food up, because I am terrible with Saran wrap. But still, it was only a little over fifteen minutes late, which is still almost half an hour sooner than I expected... And I know I will improve. I don't think they expected me to do an absolutely perfect job, as long as I did the import things.

And now I need some sleep. I have tomorrow off, which I will be spending reading my book for class. It's 150 pages long, which is funny because there's a chapter in A Memory of Light that is 195 pages long. I've been on that same chapter for days now (I had to take a break to start reading my school book, I'm honestly not that slow of a reader.) But it really messes with me, because when I read in bed, before going to sleep, I like to get to the end of the chapter. I still have, like, thirty pages to go until the end.

Anyway, here are some of the best pictures!

This is us at Walmart, Shaina was taking the photo.

This is the most bad-ass I have ever looks. And yes, that is a sock sewn to my back. I use it as a sheathe for my sword.

I was trying to imitate how Link runs in Skyward Sword when you don't put his sword away and you hold the wii remote upwards. Then Tingle started to either imitate me, or wanted to hit me...

Tingle trying to be as Awesome as Link

The Tingle smolder

The Lazy Tingle. It was a little too late, but we should have brought a bottle of beer for her to hold.

And then just a quick photo of me at the book signing

I know there are more photos, but I can't seem to find them while stalking people's pictures on Facebook. I don't own a camera, so I only have one photo on my phone, which I'm too lazy to get off of it.

Christmas Zelda

Sorry for the late post, but I was having a party yesterday, and didn't have time to blog about it. But I have a bit of time between cleaning up from last night and when our next guests arrive.

At noon, Kyra and Brandi showed up, and it was around this time that we found out that the Wii is broken. Luckily, I also have a Gamecube, so we set that up. It's not in much better shape, since you have to spin the disk then close the lid fast and hope that it keeps going. But we got it working, and started playing the very first Legend of Zelda game. It was adorable, but harder in some parts than other. The most annoying was that your heart containers don't fill up easily. However, if they are full, you can shoot laser swords, that makes up for everything. And of course, the graphics are terrible, so what is supposed to look like a monster actually looks like one of those Scottish dogs, throwing a sword. Then there were vikings, globs of pudding and a triceratops that eats bombs. All in all it was pretty entertaining. The music started to get on my nerves after a while, and as I was trying to sleep, all I could hear was the Hyrule song playing through my head... Now it is the Song of Storms from Ocarina of Time.

Anyway, once Vanessa showed up, we ate some home made mac n' cheese, then Sianna showed up and we opened presents. Kyra made the best present I have ever seen, which I will post a picture of in a moment. When Liliana showed up, we started eating the chocolate fondue, and later Brittney showed up. Unfortunately, Brittney had to go home a few hours later.

Once it hit around 11, people started trickling off to bed. I think it was around one when Kyra went to bed, leaving Vanessa, Liliana and I to go play the Sims. Long story short, I made myself and albino man and a dog named Pongo Dongo.

Aright, I have to go clean up the rest of the house, because apparently when I have more than three friends over (I had six over yesterday) we end up using most of the dishes in the house. I think today will be the third load of dishes I have done since yesterday morning. But as promised, here is the picture:

The lighting is a little off, and the detail is pretty bad since it was taken with my phone. Kyra made all four of us aprons depicting characters that we represent from Legend of Zelda. On the left I am Link, Sianna is Malon, Brandi is Sheik, and Vanessa is Zelda. If I can, I'll try to get a better picture up of my apron. I also got my birthday present from Kyra, which is a picture of the Great Deku Tree and Link, but drawn to look like a scene from the Giving Tree by Shell Silverstein. It's pretty damn adorable, and very comfy. Again, I'll try to get a picture, if I remember.

Now, off to clean!

Halloween Hype

I bought myself a sword today.

It's a little big...

But I'm pretty happy.

It was very hard to get the whole sword in the picture... I'll try to get a better picture on Sunday, when I'm dressed up for work. And I'll be dressed as Link, if your're curious. I was trying to find myself a Waldo outfit, but I kind of lost interest after I found the perfect Link outfit.

Anyway, I'm really excited for Halloween. It's a shame that I have class that night, but I'm hoping that it'll be cancelled. And no, I don't go trick or treating anymore. I'm more excited to jump out and scare the kids with my giant-ass sword. Honestly, I don't understand the cutesy little decorations that people use. The whole point of Halloween is to scare the kids away so that you'll have more candy left over for yourself.
