Best Game Ever?

Sorry for the lack of a post on Thursday last week, but I'll make up for it now! Yesterday (Monday) was my actual birthday, which I didn't celebrate with friends, since it also happened to fall on the Canadian Thanksgiving. I spent it with my family and boyfriend, which was perfect for me.

First we went out to a small little town for lunch, then wandered around for a bit, until it started to suddenly pour with rain. Unfortunately the rain still has not stopped, and my boyfriend had to walk home... One of us should really get our drivers license...

Anyway, onto the important stuff. Presents! My parents gave me a beautiful sweater, with a nifty belt and bracelet, along with a small book of poetry and a Chapters gift card. I'm sure they'll all get some good use. My sister bought me a nice water bottle, which will be useful for school. I'll stop buying bottled water now. She also got me a bag of skittles and some super comfy socks. My boyfriend got me a bluray Hobbit part two, which I'm sure will also get a lot of use, and best of all, Hyrule Warriors!

It's working it's way to becoming my favorite game ever! It's a lot of hack and slash, which is just dandy with me! So far we've mostly just been doing the main quest line, but there seems to be so much more to explore. The graphics are amazing, and the cut scenes are skippable. There's also the ability to upgrade your weapons, but we haven't really gotten far enough to play with that much. I'm sure it'll eat up a lot of my time.

Of course, tomorrow is back to school and regular life. I have a mid term in my philosophy class that I haven't studied for since Wednesday, so this should be interesting. I'll do some readings on the bus.

Maybe.

Party Animal Over Here

Damn it, I forgot again... Kind of. I meant to post something on Tuesday, then I realized that I wasted my night watching Netflix and it was 9:30, and I had to be awake the next morning at 5 o'clock for work. So once again, laziness is my excuse.

At least I have something to post about! I had my birthday party on Saturday! For the first time in my life, I actually wanted to go to a bar. Not for the drinks or anything (well maybe a little), but because it was gaming themed! My first first informed me about this bar in the summer, after she had gone there for her boyfriend's birthday. Since I looked at the website, I wanted to go there too.

We were planning on leaving my house around 3:30 to get there by 5 (we were transiting there, it takes a while). A bunch of us met up at my house so that we could all leave at once. Unfortunately, one of the guests got stuck in traffic because of an accident, so we left about half an hour late. My timing was off anyway, and we got to the bar around 6. Because it's a really small bar, they were already full, with a couple other parties waiting to be seated. We were told it would be up to an hour and a half wait.

Since we were all hungry, we agreed to find somewhere else to eat. Which wasn't as easy as it sounds. We walked around for a while before deciding on this massive restaurant, which was easily able to seat up. They had good poutine. While we were eating though, we got a phone call from the bar saying that they were able to seat us. Yay!

So eventually we got our seats in the bar, and I had a grand total of two drinks and one shot! I think that at least ties my record. Though I took a sip of a couple other drinks, so maybe I beat it. I probably could have had another drink and just felt a buzz, but everyone was getting tired, and suddenly the bills were being passed out, so we all just agreed to leave. At 8:45. pm. I guess none of us are real party animals.

Once back at my place, I found out that my mom was still out at a party at her friend's house. This says a lot about me and my social life. I can't even party longer than my mom. Though in my defense, we did stay up until 1:30 playing a board game.

But of course, the question is probably what did I get? Well for one, I didn't pay for a single thing that day. Everyone else payed for my meals or drinks. So that was nice. I also got a couple beautiful posters from my boyfriend (One of the Shire and one of Ocarina of Time), the collectors box of Legend of Zelda game guides, complete with a shiny gold bookmark and a letter of authenticity, and an IOU to get me the Legend of Zelda Monopoly when it comes available in Canada. Apparently there are more presents, but they were either forgotten at the giver's house, or the giver was unable to make it. In addition, my actual birthday isn't until the thirteen of October.

I would post pictures, I have them all on my phone, but that requires me to remove the pictures from my phone to my laptop. Even though my phone is right beside me, and the memory card needed is within reach, it's still too much effort. Maybe I'll do it later.

I won't do it later.

I'm too lazy.

But all in all, a great night! I don't think I've ever had this many people actually come to a party. At the most, there were eleven people! Nearly twenty were invited, but still! Over half the people came! I call that a success.

Life Checkup

Sorry for not posting on Tuesday, I wasn't feeling well again. I keep getting better, to the point where I think whatever I have is over, then I wake up and suddenly the thought of food makes me gag. But once again, I'm able to eat again, so that's good. I guess it just comes in waves or something. How annoying.

Anywho, looks like I'm in a relationship now! Yay! But details are meant more for friends and family, so sorry, nothing much is going to be mentioned here.

Not much else has been happening in my life. School is good, except for the transit. Work is good, now that some frustrations have been alleviated by school. I'm working less, but that means I don't have as much responsibility.

Oh! My birthday is in less than a month. I'm getting a bunch of people together to go to a gaming bar. Anyone that knows me at all should know that I really don't drink, or go to bars, but this place is really cool. I'm also refraining from buying anything, because then I know that someone will have to return a present they bought for me. Unfortunately, that means that a lot of the cool stuff coming out in September I will have to wait for. I'm not a patient person...

Alright, enough rambling. Just wanted to check in and let everyone know I'm not dead and have not forgotten the blog.

Surprise!

I'm so proud of myself. I planned and threw a surprise party for my friend, without her finding out until the right time. I don't think this amount of planning will ever happen again in my life. It was hard.

So my friend went to Belize for school for about a month or so, when she came back about a week before her birthday. She didn't plan anything, so I decided that I would. I've always wanted to do something like this for a friend, mainly because I wish someone else would do it for me. The problem is, all my friends love having birthday parties, so they always start planning their own about a month in advance. I jumped at the chance this time, and despite everything, I don't regret it.

Alright, it really wasn't that hard, I'm just lazy. Originally we were planning on having it at her house, and just had to ask her parents to get her out of the house for an hour or two. But I'm so socially awkward, that I didn't actually want to talk to her parents. Not to mention, if she picked up the phone, I would have to come up with an excuse as to why I wanted to talk to her parents. So I had her cousin text her aunt (my friend's mom). However, it ended up that my friend was using her mom's phone, as her own wasn't working. In the end, we planned that everyone would come down to my house, under the pretense that my friend, her cousin and I would be hanging out. Luckily, her cousin comes over to my house more often that she goes to my friend's house, so there was no suspicion.

So they day came (Sunday), and everything actually worked out! Only one person didn't show up, and another person came late, both because of work reasons. We had a great time, or at least I did. The best part was the present we gave her, which I think was a bigger surprise than the actual party. We all went in together to buy her a Wii U. Her reaction was priceless. I wish we had filmed it.

Anyway, I'm done with planning for the rest of the year!

Dragons and Singing

I guess I promised an update on my friend's birthday party, didn't I? Well, it's still Tuesday! Let's get this going.

Saturday was my friend's birthday. The first thing we did was go see How to Train Your Dragon 2. It was amazing! Some of my friends who do animation were complaining about it, something to do with trying to make it look real? I don't know, I don't care about that stuff. The plot was what mattered to me, and I loved it. Though really, I'm not much of a critic, and just about anything fantasy I will love. I can't say if I like the first or second better, all I can say is that I would definitely watch them both again. And again. And again...

After the movie we stopped by the mall to waste some time before karaoke. We had lunch/dinner at a restaurant there, then went to look at nerdy stuff in a game store. I very nearly bought myself a master sword, but it was too long to be practical (because you know, a sword sword is definitely more practical in real life). Not to mention what I really want is a Hylian shield, and they only had Dark Link shields there. The last time I found a Hylian shield at the store though, it was $140 dollars, which is about $60 more than I'm willing to pay.

Then after we wasted enough time, we headed across the street to the other mall, where the karaoke was. I sang one song along with a couple other people. It was 'Do You Want to Build a Snowman' from Frozen, because that's one of the only songs I actually know. This place never updates their main bulk of songs, but will constantly add and take away the Disney songs, so that there may be one or two songs I know, but they'll be gone by the next time I go. I'm still disappointed that they don't have 'I'll Make a Man Out of You', which my friend insists that they still have somewhere.

So that was my Saturday! Lot's of fun with lots of great people. I gave my friend a necklace that looks like the container from the silent realm in Skyward Sword, which I wrapped up in a tiny little Legend of Zelda chest.

Out of the Teens

So Sunday was my birthday, and as you might have figured our from the title, I have left my teenage years. That's right, I'm not twenty years old. I think I can see my first grey hair already. And since today was my friend's birthday, we combined our party on Saturday.

It started out with laser tag, which didn't produce a big crowd, because we kind of forgot that it was Thanksgiving weekend, and a lot of people had other plans... Or were afraid of laser tag. There were five of us, and I'm blaming my poor score on the gun I had. I literally had it pointed directly at my friend's chest for at least ten straight seconds. I could actually see the laser right in the middle of the target, and I apparently didn't hit her. Of course, the moment she realized I was shooting at her, she shot at me and instantly got the point.

I'm not a poor sport at all.

Then after laser tag we all went to Red Robins, where we met up with several more people. It was a lot of fun. So much fun that I actually forgot to order myself an alcoholic drink.

But now for the part I'm sure everyone is interesting in; Presents! (with pictures)

A beautiful earring holder from Sianna, along with a pair of earrings that I forgot to get a picture of. (I'm sorry)

Earrings from Brittney

Candy from Brittney and Emma

An amazing book from Andria. I'll get to work on them as soon as possible. (If you can't read the title, it says 642 things to write about)

And adorable Link stuffy from Vanessa

A pair of super warm toe socks (almost too warm...)

A glass necklace from Vanessa. It goes very well with my glass snake necklace. (Not together, of course)

Some really nice duvet covers my parents got me, along with that black pillow and some place sheets that can't be seen in this photo.

Another book from Andria. I'm going to see if my parents want to try out some of these drinks the next time they have guests over.

A snack bracelet from my parents. And it actually fits my wrist! Mostly...

A really cute pig figurine from my parents. It's supposed to bring good luck.

A pair of peacock socks from my sister. Now I just need some slightly warmer weather so I can wear shorts and show them off.

I'm sure I'm forgotten something, so just mention it in the comments if you're one of my friends and I forgot to mention a present you got me. And thanks again to everyone! I love everything I got.

25 More Days!

I'm still really tired from work. No matter how many times I do it, and no matter what time I got to bed, I'll never get used to waking up at five in the morning for an opening shift. But hey, money! I also think I might have gotten a pay raise for some reason. My last pay cheque I was paid fifty cents more per hour.

On another note, my birthday is coming up in just under a month! I'll be turning twenty, and now that it's coming closer, it kind of feels surreal. All my friends were talking about how they didn't feel like they should be turning twenty, and I'm only just beginning to get that feeling too. I know it's still fairly young, but it still makes me feel old. But to counteract that old feeling, my friend and I are combining our birthdays (I'm on the 13th, she's on the 15th) and going out to laser tag, then dinner. It'll be a lot of fun, maybe I'll even take some pictures (because you know how good I am at that.)

And I think I'll need to put some money into getting my laptop cleaned soon. The down button has been broken for months now, and the backspace button is getting sticky, making it a little hard to type, as my sentences may now be full of spelling errors (thank god for Chome's spell check) It'll also be nice to get the internal computer cleaned and hopefully make it run faster.

Anyway, just a quick update. By Friday I might be more awake and willing to come up with something fun.

Birthday

Once again I'm going to have to delay the new piece of work, since I haven't had time today, and I honestly just kind of forgot about it during the weekend. So instead I'll just ramble about how my birthday party was.

First off six of us were supposed to meet at the laser tag place, but Liliana never showed up... Actually, I haven't heard anything from her since she was supposed to get on the bus... I'm hoping that she just went back home.

Anyway, there were five of us for laser tag; myself, Brittney, Sianna, Vanessa and Kyra. We played three games, the first one being a free for all, and the last two being on teams. I wasn't too bad. During the free for all I actually did pretty well... Probably because I hit my friends on a few occasions. (Sorry guys) During the second game I came in 11th for my team, which wasn't great, but at least I didn't come eighteenth. *coughSiannacough* Unfortunately, during the third game my gun wasn't working properly and it wasn't shooting successive lasers, so I had to pull the trigger every time I wanted to shoot, which really slowed it down and messed with my aim.

After that there was a bit of a misunderstanding, and Sarah, who was planning on meeting us at the laser tag place, had no ride back to Red Robins and had to bus. Luckily the bus seemed to show up pretty quickly, but I still feel terrible. (Sorry Sarah!) I gave her a hug to make up for it, and anyone who read my previous blog post about love knows that my hugs are pretty rare.

During dinner I was allowed to have a grilled cheese off of the kids menu, and no it wasn't just for the price. I  love grilled cheese, and they make them really well at Red Robins. However, since it was my first day being 19, I ordered some sort of alcoholic beverage, of which I never actually got the name. It tasted like Sprite and kool-aid, and I could only barely taste the alcohol after I swallowed. Interestingly enough, I felt nothing from it. My parents suggested that there actually wasn't any alcohol in it. For someone who has avoided any alcohol her whole life, my first drink, although good, was rather anticlimactic  I think I'll need several more to just get a buzz... I guess that's a good thing though, since I don't like making a fool of myself, and I will no doubt do so if I'm drunk.

After my moment of being an adult and drinking alcohol, they brought out my cake. It had Pikachu and Squirtle on it. I had hoped to also have Charmander and Bulbasaur, but they couldn't fit it onto the cake. Pikachu's head tasted amazing.

I came home around 9:30, and opened up presents with my family. I'll leave a list below of what I got, since I know people will be curious. However, I'll probably also forget some smaller things, since there was more than I had expected. Heck, maybe the alcohol did mess with my mind, because I'm already finding it hard to remember who gave me what... Then again, that happens more often than I care to admit.

Brittney: Brave: The Wii video game
Sarah: A gift card to Tim Hortons for $15
Sianna: A box of cookies that looked like a scene from Super Mario Brothers, another box of cookies, a pair of snake earrings, a box in the shape of a book with candy inside and a small contain shaped like a mushroom from Mario with chocolate kisses inside
Shaina: A very beautiful photo of me edited to make it look like I'm a fairy, and a long video card
Kyra: My gift is apparently still in the mail...
Vanessa: Three bottles of lovely smelling perfume
Farmor (Dad's mom): Two Disney movies on DVD (Atlantis and Anastasia), a book (Elantris by Brandon Sanderson) and a pen/stylus to use with my ipad
Granny (Mom's mom): A gift card to Itunes for $15, a book (A Murderous Procession by Ariana Franklin) and a package of magnetic book marks
Mom and Dad: A book (Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson), a pair of grey skinny jeans and a T-shirt that has not yet come in the mail.

I know there must be at least something I have forgotten, so please tell me.

Happy Birth... Week?

My birthday is in a little under a week, on this coming Saturday. But since Thanksgiving (for Canadians) was this week, we had family over. That meant both of my aunt and uncles and my sister; the house was very busy, especially with three dogs. The good thing is, we now have a fridge jam-packed with extra food.

We had turkey dinner on Saturday, then a huge breakfast on Sunday morning. My aunt and uncles left Sunday after noon, but not before giving me a birthday present;

I received a ton of candy.

Anyone that knows me well knows that I love candy. I even have a candy chest which at the moment just barely closes. To be more specific, I got a box of Nerds (already eaten) a large box of Jelly Bellies (Half gone... Especially the black liquorish), a Pez-like Wii controller candy dispenser, a tin of Ghostbuster themed candy, and some chocolates that have been formed and coloured to look like shells or colourful rocks. They're so pretty, I don't want to eat them.

Today my sister is leaving, pretty soon, I think. She gave me a present too, and inside was a very pretty mug with a green and black design on it, two packages of hot chocolate, a small container of candy with a label that says 'Cray People Pills', and a mint case in the shape of Link's shield. I think I might just bring that to my next Zelda party...
(And yes, that is what I look like without make up)

Anyway, just a short post today, since I woke up with a headache and it's still here. I was actually going to write something new, but that might have to wait until after midterms and after birthday parties and the like.
