It's reading break! And I actually have some reading to do... Well, writing, but close enough. I get three days off of work and school, in which time I have to write an essay and a poem, along with some editing and compiling. I guess it's a good thing that my school decide to have its reading week two weeks after almost every other school. All my friends are back in school right now, so I won't get as distracted.
On another note, I applied for a job at Chapters! It's a three month contract job, so I was kind of iffy about actually applying for it. If I got the job, I'm not sure when I would actually start. The application is open until April, so I assume after that is when the job would start. That would be perfect, because it would give me time to finish school, and for us to train a new person at work, since my co-worker is leaving. I'm not sure if I would actually leave Starbucks, but at least being out of school will allow me to work more than a couple days at each location. So wish me luck with that. I like to think that my updated resume is pretty good, now that I can say I've been an assistant manager somewhere.
I guess I should also get onto submitting some writing to magazines too. I saw a few from some class presentations that might accept my work, so I'll check them out.
Read it Before you Steal it!

A Stranger Wants to Hire Me
Ah jeeze guys, you need to give me a kick to remind me it's time to do my blog.
So on Friday, after my parents got home, I found out that someone had called while I was at school concerning my resume on Monster. Since I recently applied to Chapters, we all assumed it was from them. Unfortunately, I was unable to call them back, as it was after five, and the times to call were between nine and five. Even worse, since it was Friday, I had to wait until Monday to call back.
I waited out the weekend, which went by far to quickly. (Quick note: I had a board game day on Sunday. It was a lot of fun, but it ended too quickly) Today finally came, and this morning I called back. It went to voicemail. I waited half an hour and called back again, just to get sent to voicemail again. The second time I left a message to let the person know that I had gotten their message, and all that stuff.
Around noon the phone rang and I jumped to answer it. Ends up it wasn't from Chapters. The call was from someone looking around on Monster and saw my resume (which I have not updated in a while...). They called to see if I wanted a job in communications. And we all know that means calling people up asking if they want to do a survey, or something like that. I'm still a little hesitant, but they want me to come in on Saturday for an interview (I think, the reception wasn't great and they were driving, so it was very hard to hear. All I know is that I have to go in on Saturday for some reason...) Luckily, the place is in Coquitlam, and will be a quick bus ride and walk from my house.
To be honest, it's not my dream job. It's far from it... Probably close to the very opposite. However, it could be a great opportunity to get experience, not to mention I will be earning money through the winter, and if the job is good, I might need only it, no other job.
However, that also means tying myself down to one job, without much of an opportunity to trying something that I would enjoy more. For example, I would love to work in the mall; preferably in a food place, but a clothing or accessory store would be fun too. I know for the winter season a lot of places will be hiring, but I will be too busy with this new job if I get it. not to mention Chapters. it is my ideal job (at the moment). By now it looks like I will not be offered the 5am shift (I know, I should have called them, but I just kept forgetting), but like I said, the winter season will be starting soon, and I bet they will be hiring more people for then.
There's so many choices and things to consider. I think right now I am leaning more toward taking the job, since it's there, and Chapters or any other place is just a hopeful thought.

Chapters
Alright, so I've decided that I'll update this three times a week; Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Of course, that all depends on how I'm feeling when school starts, and moreso if I get a second job at Chapters...
Which I am more excited then I should be about. A few days ago my parents informed me that they had run into an old friend who works at Chapters. He told them that there is an opening at the store he works at, but it is the 5am stocking shift. Now anyone who knows me also knows that I like to sleep in until at least nine, more often nine thirty or even ten. So getting up at 4 at least three times a week will probably kill me. But that's okay, because it's Chapters. If I die surrounded by books, I think it will be with a grin on my face. I don't think anyone knows how happy I would be to work there.
However, I also have a job at Pajo's Fish and Chips. Now Pajo's is a lot of fun, probably the best starter job anyone can ask for. If it stayed open year round, I probably would be less inclined to even look for a second job. Since it closes in the fall, however, I need some other source of income during the fall and winter. Even so, lately I have been getting less and less shifts, and what I do get gets cancelled far too often. If not for school four days a week, I would be trying harder to get a job now. I'll just have to end up relying on seasonal work once Pajo's is closed.
For now I'm just really hoping Chapter's will hire me. Since it's an early shift, I would be able to work mornings before school starts, and my dad is even willing to alter his schedule enough to wake up an hour earlier to get me there.
Since I'm going to school four days a week, and every day I get off at 9:30, I won't have much time to do homework at home. Fortunately, I also have an hour break between two of my classes on Tuesday and Thursday, so I could get a lot of work done there.
And I must be boring everyone by now. I swear, I had something more interesting to write about earlier, but I completely forget. =/ Typical. Maybe it'll come back to me later. If it does, I'll quickly type it up as a bonus blog. XD Anyway, for now just wish me luck with the Chapter's job.
