I'm not a people person

You know the people that really annoy me? People that get annoyed with sick people. Yes, I understand my coughing is annoying, but I didn't get sick just to get on your nerves. If I could be healthy, I would be. And when you're sick, sometimes you can't help but cough. Of course, now that I know it annoys you, and you have gotten on my nerves...

Ugh.

Okay, rant over.

Magnetic

Some people have horseshoes up their butts, some people have mirrors. I must have magnets, because something about me is screwing with all my electronic devices.

Let's start from the beginning. A while ago my sister bought Microsoft Office with three downloads on it. One she used for her laptop, one for our new desktop, and the third was going to be reserved for the next computer anyone got. That ended up being me. Unfortunately, the key was not at home when I first got my laptop, so I decided to wait until my sister came home from university. During the summer I didn't download it, but during that time it expired. That's right, Microsoft Office now expires. Because those greedy bastards know that we will pay them a tribute of a hundred dollars each year to keep using their product. So my parents payed the hundred dollars, and a week later I downloaded my copy. But of course, because I didn't have it downloaded when they renewed the license, mine was still expired. Because it can expire when not in use, but can;t be renewed if not in use. Again, the whole greedy bastards thing. I still haven't renewed it, because I'm reluctant to give them any more money.

So for school I've been using the desktop computer, which is fine, since it's hooked up to the printer. But of course when I go to print my short story for class yesterday, the computer says the printer isn't there! It's plugged directly into the bloody machine! I tried turning the printer off and on, unplugged and replugged everything. Eventually I decide that it's just not going work. Luckily, we have another printer. Which doesn't have a power cable... Easy fix, I take the power cable from the old printer and plug it into the new one, which I then plug into the computer. Nothing. So it's my computer that's having problems.

Next step is to e-mail my story to my laptop. Even though I can't write or edit anything, I can still bring up word documents on my laptop. From there I try plugging it into my old printer, as that's the one I know should work. It doesn't. I guess it's just so old that my laptop doesn't recognize it as a printer. So once again, I plug in the new one. This time it works! After half an hour or hitting and yelling at my computer and printer, I finally get something to work! And just in time, because I then have to rush to get out the door for school.

And this isn't even the only technical problem I have. My ipad (about 3.5 years old now) likes to randomly crash some programs. My phone (2 years old), likes to sometimes crash the texting application, and even worse, the phone application. My phone sometimes gives me the message that 'this application has crashed' when someone calls me. It can't even do the most basic function of a phone! My router (about 10 years old), barely works. In the past month, I think just about every night it slows down to a crawl. That could be because of all the devices using the internet, but it's more likely that our router is just ridiculously old and needs to be replaced. My laptop (less than a year old) is holding up pretty well, but I should probably figure out how to run the anti virus software... It also has some trouble connecting to the internet, but again, that might be the router. My Wii U (I think 2 years old?) also has trouble connecting to the internet, and for some reason won't let me play a Link to the Past. That's probably more a glitch in the game than the device though.

I'm not very good with technology. Normally my generation is, and I'm actually pretty good about using it. It's just that technology doesn't like me, and in return I'm starting to really hate it... Even though I know I could never live without it.

Cold Season

Well, guess who's sick! I seems like this is just the average cold, but it's still very annoying. Yesterday I had to work an eight hour shift at work with a throat that felt like it had been clawed to ribbons. By the end of the night, my head was starting to hurt. Then this morning I woke up with a pounding headache, and as the day progressed, my sore throat kind of went away, but now my nose is snuffed up. I have to work another eight hour shift tomorrow, which I'm trying to find someone to fill. It's rather annoying, how often I fill other people's shifts when they call in sick, but the moment I need someone to take my shift, no one wants to do it. It's not even that they're busy. They just don't want to work.

I also have a friend's birthday party on Saturday, so hopefully I'll be well enough to actually enjoy that. It really sucks being sick. Even if I get to stay home from school and do nothing but watch Netflix, I still hate being sick.

Best Game Ever?

Sorry for the lack of a post on Thursday last week, but I'll make up for it now! Yesterday (Monday) was my actual birthday, which I didn't celebrate with friends, since it also happened to fall on the Canadian Thanksgiving. I spent it with my family and boyfriend, which was perfect for me.

First we went out to a small little town for lunch, then wandered around for a bit, until it started to suddenly pour with rain. Unfortunately the rain still has not stopped, and my boyfriend had to walk home... One of us should really get our drivers license...

Anyway, onto the important stuff. Presents! My parents gave me a beautiful sweater, with a nifty belt and bracelet, along with a small book of poetry and a Chapters gift card. I'm sure they'll all get some good use. My sister bought me a nice water bottle, which will be useful for school. I'll stop buying bottled water now. She also got me a bag of skittles and some super comfy socks. My boyfriend got me a bluray Hobbit part two, which I'm sure will also get a lot of use, and best of all, Hyrule Warriors!

It's working it's way to becoming my favorite game ever! It's a lot of hack and slash, which is just dandy with me! So far we've mostly just been doing the main quest line, but there seems to be so much more to explore. The graphics are amazing, and the cut scenes are skippable. There's also the ability to upgrade your weapons, but we haven't really gotten far enough to play with that much. I'm sure it'll eat up a lot of my time.

Of course, tomorrow is back to school and regular life. I have a mid term in my philosophy class that I haven't studied for since Wednesday, so this should be interesting. I'll do some readings on the bus.

Maybe.

Party Animal Over Here

Damn it, I forgot again... Kind of. I meant to post something on Tuesday, then I realized that I wasted my night watching Netflix and it was 9:30, and I had to be awake the next morning at 5 o'clock for work. So once again, laziness is my excuse.

At least I have something to post about! I had my birthday party on Saturday! For the first time in my life, I actually wanted to go to a bar. Not for the drinks or anything (well maybe a little), but because it was gaming themed! My first first informed me about this bar in the summer, after she had gone there for her boyfriend's birthday. Since I looked at the website, I wanted to go there too.

We were planning on leaving my house around 3:30 to get there by 5 (we were transiting there, it takes a while). A bunch of us met up at my house so that we could all leave at once. Unfortunately, one of the guests got stuck in traffic because of an accident, so we left about half an hour late. My timing was off anyway, and we got to the bar around 6. Because it's a really small bar, they were already full, with a couple other parties waiting to be seated. We were told it would be up to an hour and a half wait.

Since we were all hungry, we agreed to find somewhere else to eat. Which wasn't as easy as it sounds. We walked around for a while before deciding on this massive restaurant, which was easily able to seat up. They had good poutine. While we were eating though, we got a phone call from the bar saying that they were able to seat us. Yay!

So eventually we got our seats in the bar, and I had a grand total of two drinks and one shot! I think that at least ties my record. Though I took a sip of a couple other drinks, so maybe I beat it. I probably could have had another drink and just felt a buzz, but everyone was getting tired, and suddenly the bills were being passed out, so we all just agreed to leave. At 8:45. pm. I guess none of us are real party animals.

Once back at my place, I found out that my mom was still out at a party at her friend's house. This says a lot about me and my social life. I can't even party longer than my mom. Though in my defense, we did stay up until 1:30 playing a board game.

But of course, the question is probably what did I get? Well for one, I didn't pay for a single thing that day. Everyone else payed for my meals or drinks. So that was nice. I also got a couple beautiful posters from my boyfriend (One of the Shire and one of Ocarina of Time), the collectors box of Legend of Zelda game guides, complete with a shiny gold bookmark and a letter of authenticity, and an IOU to get me the Legend of Zelda Monopoly when it comes available in Canada. Apparently there are more presents, but they were either forgotten at the giver's house, or the giver was unable to make it. In addition, my actual birthday isn't until the thirteen of October.

I would post pictures, I have them all on my phone, but that requires me to remove the pictures from my phone to my laptop. Even though my phone is right beside me, and the memory card needed is within reach, it's still too much effort. Maybe I'll do it later.

I won't do it later.

I'm too lazy.

But all in all, a great night! I don't think I've ever had this many people actually come to a party. At the most, there were eleven people! Nearly twenty were invited, but still! Over half the people came! I call that a success.

The Silmarillion review

It's been a while since I've done a review, and that's most;y because I've been slogging through The Silmarillion by J.R.R. Tolkien. I absolutely love The Lord of the Rings movies and the Hobbit, both the movies and the book, so I decided to give more of Tolkien's work a shot. I've already read the Fellowship of the Ring and got halfway through The Two Towers, but gave up when it got to the Frodo and Sam part. I've grown up quite a bit since then, so I figured I would be mature enough to read The Silmarillion.

Well, I wasn't wrong. It just took me a few weeks to read it. It's only 366 pages long. There's nothing actually wrong with it, and I was interested, but there was just so much going on. The whole book encompasses thousands of years, and at least two remakings of the world. There are so many people and names and places and events that I'm not really sure what happened. I could probably remember the more important things, but most of it has just been mixed together.

But of course, that's Tolkien. I remember The Lord of the Rings books being the same, and that's another reason why I stopped reading them. I always thought it was because I was so used to the movies that the books were just too different. But I think it's honestly just too much going on.

I might try to finish reading The Lord of the Rings later, especially now that a lot of events, at least from the movies, has been cleared up from The Silmarillion.
